RSA IV - Muizenburg

Cate and Ian are both artists living in the artsy community of Muizenburg, on False Bay (SE of Cape Town). The wining and dining continued as we traded off cooking some great meals.

Cate took us to swim with the penguins (yes, penguins) at this incredible beach (Boulders)…a must see if you’re in the area. She even gave us drawing lessons; Lo was truly amazing, deftly bringing out the until-this-point-undiscovered inner Neanderthal in Gary’s face. Gary was little better, able to draw some girl that didn’t look a bit like Lo. We won’t be changing careers soon.

Of course we had to go to Cape Point, which, while not the southern most point in Africa (that is Cape Agulhas), is considered the Cape of Good Hope, where the Indian and Atlantic ocean systems meet. The whole area, set on a stunning peninsula, is part of the Table Mountain National Park system. True to its name, it was incredibly windy and we could see the spray being whipped up from our lofty viewpoint at the old lighthouse (which was put so high that fog often obscured its view, causing at least one major shipwreck). We were glad to be experiencing it from land and not Demelza.
